2023 Mixed NTS - Div 4 Round 2 wrap

After our last place in Division 3 in Round 1 and the relegation into Division 4, it was all about continuing to develop our squad. 

As 2nd seed in Division 4 we were in Group F along with Nomads, Isle Touch, Manchester Spartans, Exeter Eagle Owls 2 and Caldy Cobras.

Our first game was against Isle Touch, which we won 6-3. 

The second game was against Exeter Eagle Owls. We were 2-1 down at the break. In the second half, the game went back and forth and we were able to prevent further tries against us. At the same time, we were able to equalise the game, so the final score was 2-2.

This game was followed by two more easy wins against Caldy Cobras (6-3) and Manchester Spartans (7-4).

As Nomads won all their games, the last game was about winning the group. Only a win would secure us first place in the group, and thus the Division 4 Cup Final.

At the beginning of the game it was back and forth with tries on both sides. However, we were able to take control of the game and pull away. In the end, we were able to secure a 5-2 victory and thus the group win.

In the Cup Final we played Bristol Choppers. We led 3-1 at the break but could not keep up the pace. In the end, we had to concede three tries and could not score any more.

It was a great day which was rewarded with a second place in Division 4.

Congratulations to Zoe E and Cameron (his first tournament for St Albans) who were voted Team MVPs by our coaches.
